More Progress on the Homes and Cultural Exchange
We finally finished all four walls of our houses, and even
though one group was behind the other, everyone rallied together at the end of
the day in order to get the job done, really showing our Infinity spirit. After
another exhausting day which ended at 6PM we all returned to our home base
where we cooled off and cleaned up in our beloved bucket showers. Our evening
consisted of a Cultural Exchange with the community filled with dancing, singing,
and a piƱata. After traditional dances were shown to us we returned the favor
with our rendition of The Cotton Eyed Joe as well as The Party Rock Anthem
dance. We even sang happy birthday in both English and Spanish to a community
member who was kind enough to share her cake with our team.

Great Job team Nicaragua! It looks like you are all having the best time! I bet it will be sad to good bye to all the great people you met and be-friended. I am sure they too will be sad to see you go...especially the children who seem to have really taken to you all. Selfishly I can not wait to see my girl again and I am sure I speak for all the other parents as well, you are missed.
ReplyDeleteMia you look so happy! I can not wait to hear all about your trip! So Im just guessing, but chicken, rice and beans are not on the menu for your return dinner? How does a big pot of sauce with meatballs and sausage sound with ravioli? YUMMY! I miss you birdie xox love, love, love you!
What a joy it has been to catch a glimpse of your week through these vibrant and colorful photos! Lindsey, as a slightly overprotective (haha) parent, it was excruciatingly hard to put you on that bus last Friday morning to a developing country without me. I waited nervously for the first text, but even the words didn’t satisfy my anxiety. Then at some point, the first blog appeared and I was somewhat reassured by your smile and saw that you seemed at ease and happy. As the days passed, I then saw you all working so hard under difficult conditions like the extreme heat and ever present dust and yet you were all still smiling. No matter what challenge you faced, you all stepped up and conquered it with humor, optimism and grace. I couldn’t be prouder as a parent! My heart is full with joy in knowing this is the start of a lifelong commitment to making this world a better place. Ghandi said “We must be the change we want to see in the world” – you are all doing just that! Linds, I miss you terribly…..your shower singing, your wit and humor, and your smile. But I am so very proud of you and know that your future holds amazing things. xoxoxo Mom
